Start Your Tractors!

In Washington Parish, there is a very dedicated group of farmers that are members of the Farm Bureau. Each year, their pageant is held to crown a Queen. The winner of the pageant advances to the State Farm Bureau Queen's Contest. There is also a Talent Contest. The winner advances to the state level for this competition, too. I traveled to Franklin to watch both of these events. The evening started off with a dinner. It was delicious! Then the Talent Contest began. There were two Junior acts and two Senior acts. Between the singing, dancing, and miming, there is a lot of talent in Washington Parish! Next, the pageant began. There were ten beautiful contestants. I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to judge! The reigning Washington Parish Farm Bureau Queen gave her final farewell, and the Visiting Queens introduced themselves. It was finally time to announce the Talent Contest winners and crown a new Queen. Two little girls who had done a dance number in the Junior group won the Talent Contest. And a very sweet girl won the Queen's Contest! Congratulations to all of the winners, and good luck at the state level in June!
