The St. John Parish Relay for Life was held Saturday, May 11 at the St. John Parish Civic Center in LaPlace. Relay for Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Teams form to raise money then come together for a huge event. My Teen Queen, Heather, and I had the honor of being involved in it. When we initially arrived, we walked the first lap with the St. John Parish team. Soon after, we judged the bake-off, a Kooky Cookie Cupcake Contest. All of the cupcakes were so yummy and cute! Later, we judged the cook-off. We got to taste barbecued shrimp, shrimp creole, shrimp fettuccine, and shrimp, crab, and corn bisque. All of it was amazing! The Visiting Queens introduced themselves and took a big group photo. Heather and I continued to have fun! We took pictures in the photo booth, and I videoed while her and the St. John Parish Sugar Queen climbed a rock wall. It was definitely a fun night and all for a great cause!
