Eight Days of Hope is a faith-based organization that spent eight days in St. John Parish helping citizens rebuild after the devastating Hurricane Isaac. On Sunday, March 10, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Opening Ceremony. The coordinator of the organization and host of the ceremony was a great guy who was not only funny and engaging but passionate and faithful. The entire ceremony was absolutely amazing. There were over 2,000 volunteers from all over the nation taking time out of their own busy schedules to help people they had never even met rebuild their homes. I had never seen so many people come together for such a great cause before. During the ceremony, St. John Parish and the St. John Parish United Way each presented the organization with donations totaling $155,000.00. I am so glad I was able to participate in this special night!
