Looking for a "Berry Good Time?" Look no further than the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival! On Saturday, April 13, I traveled to Ponchatoula to ride in the Strawberry Parade and visit the Strawberry Festival. When I arrived, we immediately boarded a parade float. The Visiting Queens would be riding behind the Strawberry Festival Royalty. We were given strawberry candy to throw to parade-goers. Riding in the parade was so much fun. It was almost like Mardi Gras!
Once the parade was over, we were taken to the Festival Board headquarters, a building in the center of the parade grounds. There, we were given gifts and meal vouchers so that we could enjoy all of the wonderful food the festival has to offer! But before we could indulge in that, the Visiting Queens introduced themselves at both the North and the South stages. Finally, we were free to eat. I started off with a delicious patalaya for lunch. I decided that I needed to try as many strawberry desserts as possible, so I went on a mission. The first dish was a fried strawberry with powdered sugar on top. Talk about amazing! I followed that up with strawberry beignets, which were equally as satisfying. Last, I had strawberry ice cream because it was pretty hot outside by this point! Overall, I had an awesome time. I got a tour of the parade grounds, was interviewed for a school production, and felt like real Royalty. The Strawberry Festival is so great!
