On Sunday, April 21, Heather, my Teen Queen, and I attended the 10th Anniversary Queen of Hope Pageant at St. John Theatre in Reserve. This pageant was very special because not only was my younger sister, Madison, giving up her title as Teen Queen of Hope but the night was dedicated to Caryn, a young girl who served as Queen of Hope Ambassador that passed away earlier this year. The show began with a heartwarming video about Caryn. Every person in the audience had tears in their eyes by the end of it. Then the pageant began. There were so many worthy contestants. Later, there was a moving dance number dedicated to Caryn performed by the reigning Queen of Hope and two other former Queens of Hope. The Visiting Queens soon introduced themselves. There was even a presentation of plaques to each of the former Queens of Hope since it was the 10th anniversary of the pageant. Finally, two new Queens were crowned. They are responsible for promoting the St. John Parish Relay for Life and raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. It was a very emotional but beautiful evening.
