According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, Andouille is "a highly spiced smoked pork sausage." But here in my hometown of LaPlace, Louisiana, Andouille is a lot more than a sausage. It's a reason to celebrate, something to be proud of. You see, LaPlace is the Andouille Capitol of the World, so I can garuantee that you will not find a sausage quite like this anywhere else. Each year, the Andouille Festival brings together the people of St. John the Baptist Parish, as well as people from all over the state of Louisiana, to enjoy this delicious piece of meat in every form you can think of. So you understand that the Andouille Festival is kind of a big deal where I'm from, but you're probably still wondering what the purpose of crowning an "Andouille Queen" is. Frankly, the Andouille Queen is responsible for traveling our beautiful state spreading the word about our festival. It is my duty to represent the festival and parish. And that's what this blog is for: to tell you all about my travels and the wonderful experiences I will have along the way. So sit back and enjoy the ride. You're sure to have a Smokin' Good Time!
