A Kiss from a Rose

My Teen Queen, Heather, and I, along with my sister Madison, who is Teen Queen of Hope, took a road trip down to Houma on Saturday, March 2 for the Big Bayou Music Festival. The festival is essentially a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis. When we arrived, we were allowed free admission into the festival. There were lots of rides, craft vendors, delicious food, and even a car show. Each Queen was asked to introduce herself, and we took several group pictures. Then we got to the fun part: the Big Bayou Music Festival Queens had planned a challenge for us. The Queens were to split into groups of four and sell paper "roses" to hang on the Rose Wall. The "roses" were $5 and had a space for a name on them. Whichever team sold the most won. We all raced out to the parade grounds to find patrons. After selling quite a few of these paper "roses," my team headed back inside for the final count. As each team turned in their contributions, the "roses" were placed on a large board that made up the Rose Wall. The Big Bayou Music Festival Queens were proud to announce that in only 20 minutes, the teams of Queens had raised $495 for cystic fibrosis! We couldn't believe it! It was amazing to be a part of that, so we left the festival feeling very accomplished. I had a great time and thank the Big Bayou Music Festival Queens for inviting me.
