On Saturday, March 9, I attended the Oyster Festival Gala for the Oyster Festival in Amite. The evening's theme was "Hollywood on a Half Shell," and I must admit that it was nothing short of glamorous! The Gala began with an introduction of each Visiting Queen. We formed a semicircle in front of the stage and awaited the Oyster Royalty. Each Oyster Queen was individually escorted from the Petite to the Teen. The Oyster Peal was also escorted, and finally, the Oyster King and Queen arrived. Once they made their way to the stage, the Oyster King proposed a toast. After that, we were allowed to sit and enjoy the world-class food and entertaining music. As you may have guessed, the main dish was raw oysters! I took a ton of pictures with some of the most beautiful Queens around, ate some great food, and danced the night away. It was certainly a fun night!
