Last September, Hurricane Isaac devastated St. John the Baptist Parish. Unfortunately, the Andouille Festival was canceled and the pageant was pushed back to December. But we didn't let that stop us! The Andouille Pageant Committee made the best of the situation by deciding on a "Winter Wonderland" theme and creating a breathtaking display. The contestants rehearsed a few days before the pageant and were all amazed by how beautiful the stage was! Interviews took place on the morning of Saturday, December 15, and everyone looked so polished in their interview suits. Saturday evening began with an Opening Number, complete with winter coats! Miss and Teen Andouille 2011, Courtney and Saige, performed a stunning dance number to pay tribute to the heroic police officers of St. John Parish. The evening gown competition was full of beauty and grace. When it came time to crown the new Queens, everyone in the audience knew it would be a close call for both divisions. Heather was crowned Miss Teen Andouille 2012 and looked so happy! By the time the announcements were made for the Miss contestants, I could barely concentrate. But when they called my name, my mouth fell open! I had dreamed of becoming Miss Andouille since I was very young, so this was like a dream come true. The rest of the night was a wonderful whirlwind of picture taking, family hugging, and eating! I am so unbelievably proud to represent St. John the Baptist Parish, my hometown of LaPlace, Louisiana, and the one and only Andouille Festival!
