Farm Time

On Saturday, June 29, my Teen Queen, Heather, and I traveled to New Orleans for the Louisiana Farm Bureau Pageant. I arrived at the hotel a little early and hung out with the outgoing Queen, Rebecca, in her suite. The room was so awesome!

When it was time for the pageant to begin, I met up with Heather in the ballroom. There were 23 beautiful and intelligent young ladies vying for the title. After the Top Ten was announced, each of the finalists answered an On-Stage Question. I was astounded by how knowledgeable these young ladies were! A new Queen was crowned, and I'm sure she will do a wonderful job of representing the farming industry here in Louisiana. I was glad Heather and I were able to experience the night with her!

How Sweet It Is!

On Saturday, June 22, my Teen Queen, Heather, and I traveled to Lutcher for the St. James Parish Sugar Pageant. We were asked to bring a sweet that represented our festival, so my mom helped me put together a cocoa krispy smokehouse. It was pretty funny!

Once we arrived at the St. James Parish Welcome Center, the Queens all played a really funny game... Each of us had a bowl with two gummy worms in it. The bowl was full of whipped cream. The object of the game was to eat both of the gummy worms without using your hands. Needless to say, there were a LOT of Queens with fluffy, white beards afterward! It had been raining pretty heavily for a while, but luckily, it stopped just as we were ready to go to the sugar refinery. We visited Louisiana Sugar Refinery in Gramercy. We learned a little about the refinery during a slideshow then toured it. We even got to see some old houses still standing from a time when people actually lived on the grounds. The best part is that they allowed all of us to keep our hard hats. It was a lot of fun!

Later that night, the pageant began. The theme was Phantom of the Opera. The stage was so elegant. Opening number was very glamorous. Each of the contestants in the Miss and Teen divisions was so beautiful. It was definitely not easy to tell who the winner would be. Both the newly crowned Queens seemed like such sweet (Pun intended!) girls. Congratulations to both of them!

Party Like It's 1920

It's official! The 2013 Andouille Pageant will be held Saturday, October 5 at the St. John Theatre. This year's pageant will not disappoint... It will be full of fashion, glamour, and swing music! So think about buying those tickets as soon as they go on sale because they are sure to sell out quickly. Thinking about getting behind the stage and competing for the title? That's even better! The experience I have had as Miss Andouille has been absolutely amazing. This year's Queen will even get to travel to Washington, D.C. for the Mardi Gras balls. Get ready because we are going back in time at the Andouille Pageant! After all, it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!

The Berry Best You Can Get

On Saturday, June 1, I traveled to Ponchatoula for the Strawberry Pageant. The pageant began with a skit by each contestant instead of the traditional Opening Number. It was really one-of-a-kind! The skits were hilarious and entertaining. Next, the evening gown competition began. Each contestant was absolutely beautiful. The reigning queen, Heather, gave one of the best farewell speeches I have ever heard. It included photos and videos from her year on the road. The new Grand Marshal and Strawberry King were announced, then the moment we were all waiting for came. Gabrielle Palma was crowned Strawberry Queen! I had a great time at the pageant!
