On Sunday, August 4, my Teen Queen, Heather, and I attended the St. Charles Parish Sugar Pageant in Norco. The theme was a beautiful "Winter Wonderland," which was a welcome change from the hot weather we are experiencing now! There were gorgeous contestants, so we all knew it would be a tough competition. Both of the current St. Charles Parish Sugar Queens gave their farewell speeches. Then it was time for the crowning. Two stunning young ladies were crowned the new Queens. The Miss Queen will represent St. Charles Parish at the Louisiana Sugar Pageant. Congratulations to the new Queens!

Stirring the Pot
On Saturday, August 3, I traveled to Chackbay for the Louisiana Gumbo Pageant. We started our day off at the Chackbay Catholic Center with gumbo for lunch, of course! Then we headed over to Zam's Swamp Tours where we toured the "Swamp Petting Zoo." I mett ZZ from Swamp People, held a baby alligator, and saw some of the other creatures the swamp has to offer like snakes, alligators, and snapping turtles. After that, we went over to the Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department where the 2013 Gumbo King explained to us what all of the tools on a firetruck are used for. He even gave me a ride in the firetruck!
That night, we all went back to the Chackbay Catholic Center for the pageant. There were plenty of girls in each division from Deb Miss to Miss. The reigning Louisiana Gumbo Queen, Karlie, looked beautiful and gave a wonderful farewell speech. The new Queen, Kaitlyn, was crowned. Congratulations to all of the 2013 Louisiana Gumbo Festival Royalty!
